Count yourself one of the lucky ones if you attended a performance this week by Godwin Friesen, one of Reaching Out Through Music’s dedicated piano instructors. Godwin performed as part of the Piano Virtuoso Series at the Richard Bradshaw Ampitheatre at the Canadian Opera Company. The delighted audience was riveted by Godwin’s interpretation of both Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 23, The Appassionata, and Chopin’s Piano Sonata No 2., famously recognized for it’s third movement funeral march. This dynamic young performer is renowned for his stunning accuracy and expression, and as if that wasn’t enough for the rising star, Godwin is a charming and delightful young man and shares his extraordinary gift with his seven ROTM students in weekly lessons.
