Hearty congratulations to ROTM vocal student, Thaanya Aswathaman.  This past November, Thaanya won the Intermediate Voice award at the ACNMP Contemporary Showcase Festival, an associated music education partner of the Royal Conservatory of Music. Besides receiving a scholarship, Thaanya was adjudicated by internationally renowned Canadian Soprano, Adrienne Pieczonka, who after listening to and adjudicating her performance, worked with her one-on-one in masterclass format.  Miss Aswathaman studies with ROTM vocal instructor Brooke Dufton, and is preparing for her Grade 7 vocal exam at the RCM this coming June.  Thaanya presented two lovely pieces at our December Showcase Concert, one of which, Darkening, by Chester Duncan,was the piece for which she was awarded.
